Wolf Spirit

The shaman whose allies include the wolf is blessed, especially in parts of the world where people must hunt to survive. The wolf is the master predator and follows the migrating herds of caribou, reindeer, buffalo or other animals it eats. Among the Indians of Alaska, they say that hunters can tell about the approach of game by listening to the wolf cries, but shamans can learn this information sooner because they can contact the wolf spirit directly while in trance. Then, while drums beat and the fire crackles, they sing songs that give voice to the wolf spirit, allowing them to think like wolves.
